Overview
Arundo Edge Manager is a purpose-built software solution for managing sensor data in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) sector. It solves the critical challenge of securely and reliably transmitting data from complex control systems to the cloud, ensuring that information flows without delay or loss. By doing so, it helps businesses make faster, better-informed decisions that directly impact operations.
The platform offers tools for deploying machine learning models, monitoring system performance, and managing entire fleets of edge devices. Users can track device health, performance, and data accuracy, receiving real-time alerts when issues arise. This ensures that companies can address potential problems before they disrupt operations. These features have made Arundo Edge Manager a trusted choice for industry leaders, including Torvald Klaveness and Cargotec, who rely on its capabilities to enhance their operational efficiency.

Bridging Complexity and Usability
As the lead designer for Edge Manager, my primary goal was to simplify the interaction with highly technical systems without sacrificing functionality. I spent considerable time working with industry professionals to understand their specific needs and workflows, which shaped how I approached the user interface. Rather than focus on abstract design principles, I concentrated on creating practical solutions that fit naturally into the way these users worked.
One of the key challenges was how to present the vast amount of data collected by the system in a way that was both understandable and useful. To address this, I designed data visualizations that didn’t just display numbers but also offered context—linking current data with trends and historical patterns. This allowed operators to spot anomalies or emerging problems early, helping them take preventative action rather than react to issues after the fact.
Throughout the design process, I worked through multiple iterations of charts, graphs, and data displays, constantly refining the layout to make sure the information was clear and easy to interpret at a glance. Each change was tested directly with users to ensure the final product fit seamlessly into their day-to-day tasks, rather than forcing them to adapt to a new system. By grounding design choices in actual user feedback, I was able to create visual tools that felt like a natural extension of their workflow—making decision-making faster and accurate.
